Michelle Smigel to Receive Help Group’s Spirit of Hope Award
Celebrating more than two decades of advocacy, impact, and hope for the autism community.
At our 30th Annual Summit, Help Group is proud to honor national autism advocate Michelle Smigel with the Spirit of Hope Award.
Michelle’s work grew from personal experience. After her son Daniel was diagnosed with autism, her family encountered the limited educational and support resources available to autistic individuals and their families. Rather than accept those limitations, Michelle turned that experience into action.
With her husband, Robert Smigel, and NEXT for AUTISM, Michelle co-created Night of Too Many Stars, bringing national attention and critical resources to the autism community. Since its creation, the event has raised more than $36 million to support autism programs nationwide.
Michelle has also been a valued supporter of Silverlining, Help Group’s resale boutique, social enterprise, and vocational training center. Her connection to Silverlining reflects her longstanding commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for autistic individuals to build skills, gain real-world experience, and pursue greater independence.
